From April to June 2022, The Phillips Collection in D.C. displayed luminous, expressive light box installation art inspired by the art of Leo Villareal, Olafur Eliasson, and Catherine Yass.
That art was created by grade four students of the Langley School, which is known for integrating high standards of academic learning with deep knowledge of child development. These elements of The Langley School’s approach are expressed in its tagline: “Where vital academics meet a deep respect for childhood.”
The Langley School is a private, coed day school teaching preschool through eighth grade. Students here undergo academically rigorous, inquiry-based learning that encourages them to take intellectual risks, deriving lessons from both success and failure.
“At Langley, we carefully tend to your child’s social and emotional growth, not just to supplement intellectual achievement, but to ensure it.” — The Langley School
In addition to this high standard of academic learning, The Langley School integrates a customized social & emotional learning program called REACH (Raising Emotional Acuity, Cultural Competence, and Health behaviors) that seeks to foster a student’s multicultural responsiveness, emotional intelligence, and assertiveness as well as their academic achievement.
Students of Langley School graduate with critical thinking skills, self-knowledge, and social skills that set them up to succeed at the world’s finest schools and in their adult lives.
